A range of managed portfolios to help you achieve your goals
Our managed portfolios are suitable for most individuals. Whether your attitude to investment risk and capacity to withstand losses is moderate, aggressive or very aggressive, we have a managed portfolio which should meet your requirements. We also manage a limited amount of savings for our cautious clients.

Understanding the 1 to 10 risk and return scale
The FCA now requires investment funds to show a risk and return score from 1 to 10, based mainly on how much their value has moved up and down over the last ten years. The same approach may in future apply to discretionary portfolios like ours. We have scored our portfolios on the same scale now, using the same bands. We are calculating our portfolios’ scores on the FCA’s ten-year basis and will publish them here once complete.
1: barely moves
Something like cash on deposit or a money market fund. Its value hardly changes from one year to the next, typically moving by less than half of one percent.
Why it doesn’t suit long-term savings: the returns rarely keep pace with inflation, so the spending power of your money shrinks quietly year after year.
10: extreme swings
Something like a single cryptocurrency, or leveraged trading such as spread bets and contracts for difference. Values can rise or fall by half or more in a year, and with leverage you can lose more than you put in.
Why it doesn’t suit long-term savings: this is speculation rather than investment, and one bad year can undo many good ones.
Neither end of the scale is a sensible home for life savings. That is why our portfolios are deliberately grouped in the middle, between 4 and 6: enough growth potential to beat inflation over time, without the kind of swings that make it hard to stay invested.
Neither end of the scale is a sensible home for life savings. Our portfolios are designed for the middle ground: enough growth potential to beat inflation over time, without the kind of swings that make it hard to stay invested.
Risk and return scores are our own assessment, applying the FCA’s 1–10 volatility bands for investment funds to each portfolio. They are based on historical volatility, which may not be a reliable indication of future risk; a score may change over time, and even a low score carries some risk to the amount invested.
The value of investments can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you invest. Portfolio aims are not guaranteed.
